Lyricist KD The Poet is an artist that I first heard of from Rexx Life Raj's Dreamer Challenge. He killed the challenge and made it to the Top 10, where the fans decided the best covers from there and he was able to secure a feature with Rexx. KD is a talented lyricist with the mindset to go far in this industry.
Where are you from?
I’m from the Bay Area. Berkeley, California specifically.
Who inspired you to make music?
I was inspired to start making music by my older brother who used to rap when I was a youngin' and by Cole as well fasho.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
The music I make can be described as just some real ass shit honestly. No faking, just really what I have going on and what’s heavy on my mental.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Too many honestly but to name a few: Snoh Aalegra, Boogie, Rexx Life Raj, and J. Cole.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
If I could change anything in the industry it’d probably be putting more value on talent and actual music making ability as opposed to an artist’s image playing as big a role as it does typically. Also I’d love to see EVERYONE be more comfortable stepping out of their “lane” and putting out any art of their’s they they truly feel.
What’s next for you?
What’s next for me? Shit honestly just continuing to drop more and more fire for the supporters I have already and gaining even more in the process. A lot of music in the tuck at the moment but there’s definitely a lot of ideas and different shit that will see the light of day soon enough.
